Adsense Tricks

Posted on June 30th, 2009 by admin

This Adsense trick might even be bordering on Adwords trick territory, but here goes anyway. When you create an Adwords advert, you can specify what URLs you want your ad to appear on in the content network. In other words, if you know of a very popular site in your niche, you could try and direct some of its traffic to your site by specifying that your ad will appear on that site only

Flippa And Sitepoint

Posted on June 24th, 2009 by admin

So far, the move of Sitepoint to Flippa has been met with widespread criticism by Sitepoint members. I’m not surprised. There are several causes for this unrest:

* the changes in functionality introduced
* how those changes were introduced
* response to feedback from users

Create A PR7 Site

Posted on June 17th, 2009 by admin

This here is a clever chap. I don’t know where he got his brilliant idea from but what he’s done is pure genius. Either he’s created himself, or he’s got someone else to create, translations of some core pages on the W3C site. W3C are always looking for volunteers to translate certain pages on their site, so I’m sure his offer of translation services would have been gratefully received.

Technologically, I’m sure they could introduce all of Flippa’s new functionality to the existing Sitepoint framework. So what’s so bad about the Sitepoint Marketplace that they (might) want to sever ties?

Using Your Website Traffic Statistics To Create New Content

Posted on June 9th, 2009 by admin

I’ve been monitoring the traffic statistics for this site and I’ve noticed that people are searching for the phrase “what makes a good presentation” and are finding my page on…. what makes a good presentation. This may or may not be good news. That page is an assessment of someone’s youtube video presentation, and might not be what the average searcher is looking for when they search for material on good presentations.

Google Adsense Competitive Ad Filter

Posted on June 4th, 2009 by admin

So you’re sick of the Muslim dating site advert that Google Adsense, in its wisdom, keeps displaying on certain pages of your “make money easy” blog and finally decide to do something about it. You have two options:
1. Change your content to give the very clear message to Google that your site is as far away from the Muslim singles dating game as you can get. You can do this by using more “keywords” in your content and emphasizing them with the appropriate markup (, , headings – you know the drill).
2. Use the competitive ad filter in adsense.
