Wow! Look at the monthly traffic on this site for sale!
Established: 18 Jun 2008
Uniques (per month): 10,129
Page Views (per month): 30,624
But is the seller trying to pull a fast one with their traffic stats? Many sellers do this. They artificially inflate their traffic and then sell on the basis of huge traffic. Check out the stats. Most spikes like this are once only anomalies that are not to be repeated without time/effort/money, so beware.
Many webmasters own sites that are a dead loss. When they finally realise this and decide that maybe they can sell their site to some gullible mug, they are tasked with making their site seem an "attractive purchase" in the eyes of prospective buyers. How to do this? What are the two main things that seduce would-be buyers? Traffic and revenue!
If the seller can spike the traffic or revenue, they can advertise the site for sale using these (temporary) selling points. They hope that you will believe that the 10,000 uniques they somehow achieved once are a regular occurrence.
Don't fall for it. Check for spikes like this, as they are suspicious indeed.
Let's take a look at that spike in traffic. There are 3 days worth of spike. The best day achieves around 3,000 UVs and the two days on either side achieve nearly 1,500 each. That's 6,000 uniques that we can immediately discount. Out of the claimed 10,000 UVs that leaves 4,000 that are "legitimate". Actually, it's more like 3,000 as the seller mistakenly took the 10,129 visits to be unique visits ( a common "mistake").
I doubt that this site will last long on Flippa because not only is it in the purn niche, it's also publishing links to pirated material.
[Here's another seller making good use of traffic spikes. The current monthly, or even last month's traffic stats would be more useful than those averaged out across the last 7 months - and the seller probably knows this.]
Auction Description
It's a good site with a load of members who post movies, pictures and other stuff. There are loads of posts and images you will get.
On top of this you will get:
- vBulletin licence 4.0 publishing licence (legal, we will process this via vbulletin.com itself)
- Auto TGP poster script I designed myself, I'll give a bit of support with it but its pretty self explanitory
- There are over 200 gallerys hosted on the site (gue.cc) which you will get them all, not the domain, but you will get the files so that means you wont find dead links.
- Gallerys are from affiliates for advertising their stuff, so if you sign up to any of them, you can easily replace the link to their website using the BBCode to your affiliate code
- You will get the domain, files and database
Analytics statistics are available on request.
I am selling this because I just don't have the time for it. Got a new job a couple of days ago and it's going to eat up a lot of my time.
The database, files, site, etc I can not gaurentee is unique content, but I can guarantee I will not use the database, posts, etc again.
TBH I'm not that bothered with payment solutions. I would rather PayPal, but if you have any preference just ask me and I'll see if I accept it.
Revenue Details
I have only put adverts up on the site a week ago, and make $1.11 but it's just with blacklabelads so I'm not even sure how good they are. I'm sure this could bring in a lot more money if you had time.
Traffic Details
Site gets around 110 unique visits a day
29.05% are from Google
12.32% are direct
Other are simple back links on blogs, websites and other stuff. I also buy traffic occasionally, but obviously this would be up to yourself.
>>I’m sure this could bring in a lot more money if you had time.
I love that. The only reason people are selling their sites is so that somebody else can make money
Nice analysis. I always love these analyses. Thanks!
Because as we know, all we need is time to make our websites profitable! I feel quite rude in passing up this opportunity
